Design Studio

in part of the original 1910 mill building, Weave Corporation's Design Studio features an extensive EAT Computer Design installation. Our New York design group comes to this lovely brick-walled, narrow wood plank floored studio to work with the technical designers to interpret their creative visions into fine fabrics for the home. Weave Corporation creates more than 1000 new designs a year!

Sample Making

order for our customers to see what new fabrics we've made, we have to show them samples. Our sample department, as it's name implies, performs the critical task of making these samples. Samples are also used to select colors from various trials that we weave. As Raymond Rios, sample maker to the stars and the head of sampling services in our New York studio and showroom reminds us, "...when the sales person leaves a customer's office, all that's left to sell the product are the samples, so they have to look good and be easy to use." The sample department in Pennsylvania understands this, and the samples they send to our customers reflect that understanding.

Warping

is formed when yarn running lengthwise is interlocked with yarn running crosswise. Those lengthwise yarns are called a warp. Warping is the process of making a warp. The warp being made in this picture (you can click on it to make it bigger) is made up of a variety of different yarns all mixed together. It happens to be a very complex warp. We have solid warps, striped warps, two color warps and so forth which gives us the ability to make lots of different and exciting fabrics.

Examining

Every meter, or yard, of fabric is closely inspected to make sure that it's up to the standards we have set for ourselves. Our internal seconds rate is under 2%, and we almost never ship something we later have to take back.

How do we do it? Do we follow one of the current gurus of quality? Nope, it's easier than that. Everyone at Weave Corporation operates according to following philosophy:

If you wouldn't put it in your house, don't ask someone else to put it in their house.

If you were planning to attend one of those expensive seminars in quality management or whatever the latest chic trend is, we've just saved you the tuition. Every person can understand this simple rule, even your boss!

QC Lab

With all the thousands of yarn types and colors that Weave Corporation uses, it's important to make sure the colors match and the yarn is correct before we turn it into fabric. Additionally, we have to be sure that new fabric constructions will perform properly before they go into someone's home or clothing. Our Quality Control Lab checks everything from color accuracy and yarn performance characteristics to fabric abrasion resistance and some flammability tests. The photo shows one section of lab.

Weave Corporation is well known world wide as the highest quality mill in the industry. This didn't happen by accident, we work hard at it.
